BENEFIT

‘Mandala’ is the period of 41 days starting usually from about the middle of November every year considered auspicious for the worshipping of Gods and Goddess particularly fasting for purification of body and life. These days are important for worshipping Lord Ayyappa. One may offer special Puja on these days and invoke the Lord’s Grace on him and his family. There will be an offering of Payasam (sweetened milk porridge) to Lord Ayyappa with the Archana.

One may choose a single day or multiple days for this worship.
In 2009 these dates are from Nov 16th to 27th December
In 2010 these dates are from Nov 18th to 29th December

This Puja is done once in a year to remove serpa-dosha (bad effects in ones life). This is generally done in the month of July-August. The puja lasts throughout the day and ends with sacrificial offerings in the night to please serpents.

This is a very unique ceremony. Once in a year, a special puja is organized to please the family deity of Melpazhur Mana, Lord Vettakkorumakan. Preparations such as drawing the Kolam( replica)of Lord Vettakkorumakan (Lord Siva in the form of Kirata Murthi) with powder of different colours, decoration of pandal, collecting thousands of coconuts (up to 12000), songs on Lord Vettakkorumakan etc., are required. In the background of playing percussions (Chenda), Vettakkaran Nair, a member from a traditional family who usually conducts this special pujas, sits on a dhoti put on some coconuts spread over and starts breaking all the coconuts (12000 coconuts) single-handedly in 3 hours to the awe of all. He does this performance after observing Vratha (penance) for many days.

This puja is done as a very special offering as stipulated to please Lord Shiva for invoking His
Grace and Blessings. One can choose the date as per ones requirement.

On the birth star (Nakshatra) day of Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda, the Puya ( Pushya )Nakshatra, which generally falls in the month of April-May, an elaborate Kalasa Puja is performed. All the deities are bathed with sanctified water of Kalasas. The function starts from early morning (5.00 am) and goes upto late afternoon. An annadana (feeding) is also offered to the devotees on that day. This Kalasa Puja is offered once a year as mentioned on the birth star day of Gurudev.

This puja is performed for the welfare of the totality, enriching the divinity of the temple idols as well as for the prosperity of the family members who offers this Kalasa Puja.

This is a unique scheme by which one can get a Puja performed every month on the Nakshatra day that one specifies. One can choose a yearly plan or a lifetime plan. One can thus support the efforts of Chinmaya International Foundation in protecting the priceless heritage of traditional wisdom. On the chosen day, every month Vishesha Puja would be performed in the name of the donor.
